About Eventing...

Eventing is like the triathlon of equine sports. In this sport, the horse must be a versatile and adaptable athlete. Horses must have the strength and stamina to gallop and jump solid fences on a cross country course. They need to be light and supple to perform the exact fingures in a dressage test, and they must have quick reactions, speed, bravery and carefulness to clear all the jumps within the time alloted on the stadium course.

The bond between a horse and rider is very strong. Each relies on the other and trusts them to steer through questions and know the right answer to each new challenge. The trust between a horse and rider develops over time, through long hours of training and successful competition up through the levels. Each successful round gives both rider and horse the confidence to meet more demanding challenges.

At the horse trials level, beginner novice through advanced these phases occur over 1-2 days. Three day events, which are governed by the Federation Equestrian Internationale, are held over three days and have the two additional phases of road and track and steeplechase.
